Software in our labs, classrooms and offices

At least once each year, we rebuild all our lab and classroom computers to support instruction and study in a reliable computing environment. Each of our computer systems features a mix of the best available commercial and open-source applications.

For Fall 2010, we will be featuring Windows version 7 and Office 2007 on all lab and classroom computers.

Visual Basic is a programming environment installed on all computers.

Firefox is the Mozilla Foundation web browser.

Safari is the Apple corporation web browser.

Internet Explorer is Microsoft's web browser.

Respondus Lockdown is a special web browser for online tests.

Adobe Creative Suite is available in SFH 022c and in some of the group work stations in main lab 022.

Microsoft Expression Web is Microsoft's version of Dreamweaver. Available on all computers.

Foxit is a fast alternative .pdf viewer.

XnView is an outstanding photo retouching and management software on all our computers.

Adobe Acrobat is the most common .pdf viewer, and is on all our computers.

Microsoft Windows Media Player is on all our computers.

Freemind is an amazing new "mind-mapping" brainstorming and conceptualization software. All computers.

Notepad++ is an outstanding text and code editor. Installed on all computers.

McAfee is antivirus software.

Apple iTunes plays Quicktime content and synchronizes with iPod devices.

Roxio is CD burning software on computers equipped with cd/dvd drives.

SPSS is statistical analysis software.
