Career Track & Achievements: Began her career as Corporate Account Representative and has been consistently promoted throughout the two-and-a-half years with the company.
My Typical Day: Beginning at 7:30 when Barton arrives at the office, her first duty is to meet with one of the representatives she is managing. From there, she calls on new and current customers to schedule appointments to meet with them and discuss Humanscale. Appointments come next; Barton usually has 4-to-5 appointments per day, ending around 5:30. After Barton returns home, she finishes her day by returning phone calls, emails and faxes.
Why you should consider a career in Sales: As compared with other professions, there is usually a three-to-four year period of trying to work out of an entry-level position. However, this is not the case with sales. Sales allows for fast, consistent growth, and the ability to prove oneself, and be rewarded.
How the Sales Program Helped to Prepare Me for My Career: Having a basic understanding of business upon graduation is what has helped me the most. Having basic business sense helps me to understand my customers’ business, and helps me sell to them.
