Scholarships, Honors, & Awards
In conjunction with its Corporate Partner Program, The Professional Sales Institute provides a variety of student scholarships, honors and awards with a focus on two interrelated objectives:
- Encourage quality students to explore professional selling as a rewarding career opportunity.
- Recognize and reward sales students who have distinguished themselves through their high achievements, enthusiasm and excitement for a personal selling career.
Each year, the Professional Sales Institute provides up to $24,400 in scholarships and awards to students enrolled in the Professional Sales Sequence. This extensive scholarship and award program includes the following opportunities:
- Enterprise Rent-A-Car Professional Sales Student Scholar Program – provides up to 20 students with $1,000 scholarship opportunities to select juniors electing the Professional Sales Sequence of study. In addition to the scholarships, this student scholar program also includes extensive out-of-class learning opportunities and credit hours towards graduation.

- Professional Sales Leadership Freshman Scholarship Program – provides up to 10 freshmen students with $200 scholarships. Qualified candidates must enroll or declare their interest to enroll as a new freshman majoring in sales and marketing, achieve a minimum 3.0 high school GPA on a 4.0 scale, and rank in the top quarter of their high school class, or have an ACT Composite Score of 24 or above (equivalent SAT score also acceptable).

- AAA-Chicago Outstanding Senior Sales Student Scholarship Award – provides a $300 award for a graduating senior in the Professional Sales Sequence with a 3.0 GPA or higher. In addition to GPA, candidates must demonstrate strong qualities in leadership, service and professionalism through extra-curricular activities. Sales faculty members select the winner.

- Ameriprise Financial Services Outstanding Junior Sales Student Scholarship Award – provides a $300 award for a junior or first semester senior in the Professional Sales Sequence with a 3.0 GPA or higher and less than 90 hours completed. In addition to GPA, candidates must demonstrate strong qualities in leadership, service, and professionalism through extra-curricular activities. Sales faculty members select the winner.

Frito-Lay Sales in Action Scholarship Award: Outstanding Senior – provides a $300 award for a graduating senior in the Professional Sales Sequence with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Primary emphasis is on students who have exhibited exemplary involvement, work-ethic, and leadership in sales related work, internships, student organizations and other extracurricular activities. Sales faculty members select the winner.

- Vector Marketing Sales in Action Scholarship Award: Outstanding Junior – provides a $300 award for a junior with at least 75 hours but less than 90 hours completed and is enrolled in the Professional Sales Sequence with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Primary emphasis is on students who have exhibited exemplary involvement, work-ethic, and leadership in sales related work, internships, student organizations and other extracurricular activities. Sales faculty members select the winner.

- Chicago Office Technology Top Gun Award: Fall Semester – provides a $300 award for the student having the top needs discovery role play across all sections in the fall semester. Candidates for this award are nominated by their MKT 234 professor with the winner selected by a committee consisting of sales faculty members and industry professionals.
- Ryder Top Gun Award: Spring Semester – provides a $300 award for the student having the top needs discovery role play across all sections in the spring semester. Candidates for this award are nominated by their MKT 234 professor with the winner selected by a committee consisting of sales faculty members and industry professionals.
- Wells Fargo Financial Outstanding Sales Intern Scholarship Award – provides a $300 award to a junior or senior student completing a Professional Sales Internship for credit, enrolled in the Professional Sales Sequence, and having a 3.0 GPA or higher. Primary consideration will be given to students who exhibit strong professionalism, work-ethic, and enthusiasm in their sales related internship. Recipient is selected by a committee consisting of the Sales & Marketing Internship Director and members of the sales faculty.

- State Farm Professional Sales Student Leadership Award – provides a $300 award to a junior or senior student in the Professional Sales Sequence having a 3.0 GPA or higher and demonstrating exemplary leadership and professionalism through their active participation as a member or officer of a recognized College of Business student organization. Candidates are nominated by the Presidents of College of Business student organizations with members of the sales faculty voting to select the recipient.

- University Sales Center Alliance Certified Sales Student Achievement Program – This national program awards selected students an official certificate of recognition for superior academic and professional achievement in selling from the University Sales Center Alliance. In all of the U.S., there are only 11 university sales programs qualified to confer this honor on students who have distinguished themselves in their study and practice of professional selling through a rigorous combination of academic course work and extra curricular activities. In any given year, fewer than 200 students across the U.S. will meet the requirements for this distinctive award. We are proud Illinois State students are part of this elite group each year.
