Profile:

Dr. Goodman is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and received a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management from the University of Mississippi; a Master's of Arts degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Louisiana Tech University; and a Bachelor's of Science with Honors in Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi. Prior to joining academics, Joe performed management roles in a variety of industries, including health care, construction, and retail. He is also a U.S. Army Veteran.

Joe's scholarly research focuses on social contexts within organizations, employee socialization/development, and the process by which organizations and employees perceive, cope, and/or manipulate their environment. His research is published in the Journal of Business and Entrepreneurship, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Applied Social Psychology, Journal of Business and Psychology, DATABASE for Advances in Information Systems, Human Performance, and Southern Law Journal. Additionally, he has presented numerous papers at the international, national, and regional level.

Joe stays involved within his community in various ways including the Boy Scouts of America. He has provided his expertise on areas such as policy and procedure manuals, employee relations, performance appraisal, personnel selection, and employee stress. He serves as the co-advisor to the Illinois State University Student Society for Human Resources Management.
