John Bantham joined the Management and Quantitative Methods Department at Illinois State University in August 1997. He earned his MBA (1995) and Ph.D. (1998) from Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY. His undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Chemistry (1972) from Union College in Schenectady, NY.
Current Teaching Interests: John has taught ten different courses while at Illinois State University. He most typically teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in operations management, graduate courses in project management, and BUS 100, an undergraduate entry level course required by all business majors.
Current Research Interests: Dr. Bantham’s research interests are in the areas of supply chain management, buyer-supplier relationships, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. He has made presentations to a number of professional organizations, including the Decision Sciences Institute and the Production and Operations Management Society. His publications have appeared in College Student Journal, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Technology Transfer, National Productivity Review, Psychology and Marketing, and Quality Progress.
Work Experience: Prior to pursuing his graduate studies, John worked for 16 years in a number of industrial management positions. Ten of those years were with General Electric Company and six were with Genigraphics Corporation. He spent his last four years at Genigraphics as their Director of Manufacturing.
Professional Affiliations, Honors, and Awards: John is a member of the Decision Sciences Institute and Beta Gamma Sigma. He was awarded the 1996 George and Marion Plossl Doctoral Dissertation Award sponsored by the American Production and Inventory Control Society Educational and Research Foundation, Inc. In 2003, he received the Manahan Family Award for Teaching Excellence in Business (the College of Business award for excellence in teaching).
