Business Centers

The Difference:

Two business centers provide outreach opportunities for students and faculty in the small business community.

  • The Illinois Small Business Development Center at Illinois State University was established in March 2005 to help entrepreneurs start a new business or expand or improve existing business.  The Illinois SBDC offers one-on-one confidential counseling for all phases of business activities. The Illinois Small Business Development Center at Illinois State applies the resources of Illinois State University, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, the Small Business Administration, and private sector organizations to solve business problems and foster entrepreneurship. We focus on projects that advance the job development, investment, and economic growth priorities of Central Illinois.

  • The Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies provides learning opportunities for students including the Entrepreneurship Small Business Management sequence (ESBM) and outreach service to the non-university community. Consulting teams, comprised of senior undergraduate or graduate students, work with small businesses to gather data, analyze business problems, and make oral and written recommendation reports
