Retailing, International Marketing and Sales Force Management
Rodger Singley joined the Marketing faculty at Illinois State University as an Assistant Professor in August 1989. Previously, he taught Introduction to Marketing Management, Promotion, and Consumer Behavior while pursuing his doctorate at Texas Tech University.
Current Teaching Interests: International Marketing, Marketing Management.
Current Research Interests: Dr. Singley's major areas of research include: international logistics, human resources issues in multi-national marketing, channels of distribution, and the ethical decision making involved with interactions of these areas; self-monitoring behavior (particularly the impact upon promotion); and an examination of church patronage and promotion based upon the use of traditional marketing models. Results of this research have recently appeared in the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice , the Journal of Current Issues and Research in Advertising , and The Proceedings of the Academy of Marketing Science , among others.
Consulting and Work Experience: Dr. Singley has been involved in retail and sales management in the computer industry and is involved in consulting in the areas of international insurance fraud and insurance risk issues. University and College of Business service commitments have included: Chair, International Business Committee; Member, International Studies Minor Committee; Faculty Advisor, Delta Sigma Pi Professional Business Fraternity; Member and outside reader, Masters' Thesis Committee. Past service includes Academic Standards Committee, and various other ad hoc and standing committees.
Profesional Affiliations, Honors, and Awards: Rodger is a member of the American Marketing Association, Academy of Marketing Science , and Alpha Mu Alpha marketing honorary. He represented Texas Tech University at the 1988 American Marketing Association Doctoral Consortium held that year at the University of California , Berkeley . Dr. Singley is also an advisory member of various community business and economic development groups. Effective August 16, 1996, Rodger was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor.
