Profile:

Gary Hunter joined the Marketing faculty at Illinois State University in August 2000. Since his arrival, he has taught Principles of Marketing, Buyer Behavior, Retail Management and Promotion, and Marketing Research at the undergraduate level. At the graduate level Gary has taught Advanced Consumer Behavior.

Current Teaching Interests: Buyer Behavior, Marketing Research, Retail Management.

Current Research Interests: Gary 's research focuses on examining consumer and salesperson reactions to the large number of brands available in the retail marketplace. He is also investigating consumer empowerment and the benefits of empowerment to consumers and to empowering firms.

His work has appeared in the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, Industrial Marketing Management, and the Journal of Consumer Satisfaction, Dissatisfaction, and Complaining Behavior, among others.

Consulting and Work Experience: Dr. Hunter was a senior manager with Radio Shack for thirteen years (1983-1996) before obtaining his doctorate, managing several stores in southeastern North Carolina.

Professional Affiliations. Honors, and Awards: Gary is involved in the American Marketing Association, the Association for Consumer Research, and the Society for Consumer Psychology. He has been recognized by the college for his innovative use of technology in the classroom and his excellence in teaching.
