Profile:

Dan Goebel joined the Marketing faculty at Illinois State University in August 2001. Previously, he taught Principles of Marketing, Professional Selling, Sales Management, and Marketing Management as an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of Southern Mississippi and while pursuing a doctorate in Marketing at the University of South Florida.

Dr. Goebel's current research interests include investigating cross-functional relationships, the interaction of marketing personnel with members of other functional units, and the role of interpersonal factors that govern those interactions. Other research interests for Dr. Goebel include investigating sales force performance, the factors influencing selection of members of the sales force, characteristics of effective sales leadership, and the ability of sales teams to effectively deal with information overload. Dr. Goebel's research has been published in the Journal of Business Research, Journal of Strategic Marketing, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Managerial Finance, and the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice. Dan also has published in Proceedings of the American Marketing Association, Proceedings of the Society for Marketing Advances, and The Third Annual North American Research Symposium on Purchasing and Supply Chain Management Proceedings.

Dan recently received three teaching awards. He won the 2005 ISU College of Business Manahan Award for Outstanding Teaching, the 2004-2005 Outstanding MBA Professor, and the 2005 Academy of Marketing Science Outstanding Teacher Award. His research also has allowed him to be awarded several University Research Grants and Katie School of Insurance and Financial Services Research Grants. Finally, Dan currently is the treasurer for the Society for Marketing Advances, an international association of marketing professors.

Dan is a member of the American Marketing Association, the Academy of Marketing Science, the Society for Marketing Advances, and the Institute for Supply Management.
