Profile:

Jeri Beggs joined the Department of Marketing at Illinois State University in August 2002. From 1999-2002, Jeri was a Visiting Lecturer at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana while her husband pursued a Ph.D. in Recreation. While at Indiana, she taught Consumer Behavior and Marketing Strategy. She also taught numerous graduate and undergraduate courses at Saint Louis University and Maryville University from 1996-1999.

Current Teaching Interests: Consumer Behavior, Integrated Marketing Communications, Ethics.

Current Research Interests: Dr. Beggs' research interests are in the areas of consumer behavior consumption theories, quality of life, ethics and social marketing. Her dissertation addressed the connection between income and happiness by looking at comparison standards such as referent others (friends, family, etc.), past income, and ideal income. She is currently involved in a cross-disciplinary project to assess faculty attitudes toward teaching ethics in the College of Business at ISU. Jeri also is interested in case writing and case methodology as a teaching tool. In addition, Jeri has presented papers and been published in the proceedings of several academic conferences and serves as a reviewer for the Case Research Journal and the Journal of Management Education.

Consulting and Work Experience: Prior to pursuing a Ph.D., Jeri held various academic positions including Development Officer at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, and Director of MBA Programs at Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri. She has also served as a subject expert on a team creating an Executive Education program online and as a marketing consultant on several grants for the Student Health Promotions Office at Illinois State University.

Professional Affiliations, Honors, and Awards: Jeri is a member of the American Marketing Association, the North American Case Research Association, and the International Society for Quality of Life Studies. She also serves as a reviewer for the Case Research Journal and the Journal of Management Education. In 1999, she represented Saint Louis University as the AMA Doctoral Consortium Fellow, and was awarded the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award at Saint Louis University .
