The Marketing Department offers programs of study in Marketing and Business Teacher Education.
The marketing program offers a general sequence in addition to specialized sequences in professional sales and integrated marketing communication. The curriculum is sensitive to, and compatible with, private sector and societal demands. The academic programs are rigorous and challenging, and the faculty utilize an active learning, or high-student-involvement approach in their classes. The business teacher education program is recognized by students, alumni, educational agencies, accrediting organizations, and professional groups as a premier program emphasizing excellence.
The Professional Sales Institute at Illinois State University advances the profession of personal selling and sales leadership by providing high-quality education, research and consulting programs for students and business professionals. Based in the state-of-the-art College of Business, the Institute represents a unique partnership between the business sector and higher education and is recognized as a premier resource for university students and sales professionals in the nation. As a top five nationally known program, the Professional Sales Institute is one of only 10 that is professionally accredited and is a member of the University Sales Center Alliance.
The Learning Center provides opportunities for students to hone their individual presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills. The Center provides video systems for both individual and group sales presentations including video editing, playback, and an area for debriefing. This suite of rooms represents our most advanced learning support environment.
The Focus Group Room in the College of Business Building provides observation and multimedia capabilities allowing the department to pursue marketing research by training students to conduct group interactions with videotaping and presentation capability. This specialized facility represents one of the most advanced learning labs between Chicago and St. Louis.
