Students and their parents often wonder about the cost/benefit ratio of study abroad programs, but this graphic explores the long term value of the study abroad investment for a student's career.

The College of Business sponsors both summer study abroad programs and semester programs and has partner institutions in England, France, Hungary, Mexico, Japan, Germany, Spain, and Thailand. Additional partnerships are under development. In addition, the Office of International Studies at Illinois State University sponsors summer and semester programs to a variety of aditional countries.

Students should plan for an international program early in their studies and consult with the International Business advisor for the transfer of credits earned abroad before they plan to travel. The semester programs offer courses in English and/or the language of the country depending upon the specific campus of residency. The student should see the advisor for the articulation of specific courses and how they fit into the student's overall degree plan.

The ideal time for a College of Business Study Abroad summer program is between junior and senior year. The summer study abroad programs are conducted in English or the language of the respective country at the partner universities. For many of these shorter programs, students earn 6 credits for 2 courses (IDS 189, Interdisciplinary Studies and INB 245, Business Studies Abroad).
