Edgar Norton's teaching and research interests include investments, corporate finance, and entrepreneurial finance. His research has been published in a variety of finance, economic, and small business journals, including Financial Review, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and Journal of Small Business Management.
A recipient of an Award of Excellence for a research paper at a conference sponsored by the International Council for Small Business, he was recognized in an article in the Journal of Management as one of the most productive entrepreneurship researchers of the early 1990s. He has co authored four books: Investments (Thomson-Southwestern), Finance (Wiley), Foundations of Financial Management (Thomson-Southwestern) and Economic Justice in Perspective (Prentice Hall).
He has been active in a number of professional and academic organizations and was elected to the board of the Midwest Finance Association in 1998, membership vice-president in 2000-2001, conference program chair in 2001-2002, and is serving as president 2003-2004. He earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Designation in 1988 and has consulted with AIMR in several capacities.
