Travel Award Program (Office of Research and Sponsored Programs)
Purpose:
Assist faculty in submission of quality, competitive grant proposals.
To enhance competitive grant proposals, RSP will provide travel support funds to faculty or staff wishing to participate in grant-writing workshops, collaborate with experts, serve on review panels, or meet with agency program officers. These travel funds are limited. Awards are contingent upon availability each fiscal year, and are subject to approval through the Research Travel Award Selection Committee (RTASC). The RTASC is comprised of four experienced Illinois State University grant-writing faculty from various disciplines.
How to apply:
Complete and submit the following items to RSP, Campus 3040 (Hovey 310) prior to travel .
A “ Travel Award Application ” form along with an “ Overview of Proposed Project ” must be completed electronically and submitted via email to RSP at
. These should also be forwarded to your college dean or unit head.

An electronic version of the guidelines for the pertinent grant program must also be forwarded to

The proposed grant proposal must be submitted on behalf of Illinois State University.
A maximum of $1,000/per faculty member per proposal may be requested.
Once support is approved, if required, airline arrangements should be made through Judy Keenan (RSP) at 438-3006.
Travel vouchers and invoices should be completed and submitted for payment immediately following travel and should have appropriate receipts and documentation attached. All expenses must adhere to University and State travel guidelines.
Travel arrangements are to be made at least two weeks in advance.
