Kathy Lund Dean, Jeri Mullins Beggs and Charles J. Fornaciari (2007).  “Teaching Ethics and Accreditation: Faculty Competence, Methods and Assessment.” Journal of Business Ethics Education 4:5-26.

SJ Chang (Associate Dean)
Co- translated “Not Just Another Cinderella Story” from Korean to English with Inboon Kim. This autobiography of newly elected South Korean President Mr. Lee Myung-bak, gives a full account of Lee’s rags-to-riches story, detailing his rise from a poor childhood filled with challenges, through to his rapid ascent to CEO at the Hyundai Company.

Chang also wrote a book review on “The Market for Virtue: The Potential and Limits of Corporate Social Responsibility” (author: David Vogel, 2006) in the latest issue of “Finance and the Common Good.”

Ron Guidry (ACC)
“Finance Careers: An Empirical Investigation of Student Attitude”, has been accepted at the Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives.  It will be published in volume XXXIV, Number 1, Spring/Summer 2008 edition.

Rosie Hauck (ACC)
Rosie Hauck received a University Teaching Initiative Award for 2007-2008 and was recognized at a luncheon and at the Founders Day convocation.

Jack Howard (MQM)
Presented “Employee Awareness and Perceptions Surrounding Workplace Violence Policies” at the 60th Annual Meeting of the Labor and Employment Relations Association, January 3 – 6, in New Orleans.

Mike Humphreys (MKT), Mike Williams (MKT) and Dan Goebel (MKT)
“The Mediating Effect of Supplier Oriented Purchasing on Conflict in Inter-firm Relationships” was accepted for publication in a 2008 Special Issue of the “Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing” on Purchasing Orientation in Inter-firm Buyer-Supplier Relationships.

Domingo Joaquin (FIL)
"Value at Risk: Is a Theoretically Consistent Axiomatic Formulation Possible?" was accepted for publication in the Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance. The paper responds to a challenge by a leading critic of Value at Risk about the possibility of an axiomatic formulation.

Gary Koppenhaver (FIL)
"Strategic Intermediary Decisions: Money Fund Fee Waivers," Annual Meeting of the Southern Finance Association, Charleston, SC, November 14, 2007.

Debbie Lindberg (ACC)
Presented the instructional case entitled “Sky Scientific, Inc.” at the Auditing Section Midyear Conference of the American Accounting Association, Austin, Texas, January 19, 2008.

Lindberg received the University Outstanding Service Award for 2007-2008.  She was publicly recognized at the Founder’s Day convocation.

Edgar Norton (FIL)
The 13th edition of Finance: Markets, Investments, and Financial Management was recently released by publisher John Wiley and Sons. Norton co-authored the book with Ronald Melicher of University of Colorado-Boulder.

Steve Taylor (MKT)
 “Broadening and Deepening Attitude-Based Models of Goal-Directed Behaviors,” British Journal of Social Psychology, 46, pages 739-768.

 

Caterpillar Excellence Fund Scholarships Winners

Ninety-four highly-qualified students applied for a Caterpillar Excellence Fund Scholarship and 15 of those individuals were selected receive $2,500 awards based on their credentials and essays. “The committee reviewing the applications sought students who showed characteristics of excellence and leadership both in and out of the classroom,” said Norris Porter, Assistant to the Dean for Student Relations. “I assure you that their job was not easy!”

Congratulations to these highly qualified, highly motivated, and highly caring members of our student community.
