A message from the Dean

In this holiday season of Thanksgiving, it struck me that I owe a big "Thank You" to a number of people for making the transition to the Dean's Office so enjoyable. The past four months have been a wonderful adventure, made so much more enjoyable by all of the committed and dedicated people in and around the College of Business.
 
First, of course, is the faculty of the College of Business. Our faculty is unique, perhaps in all of higher education. They are of course a highly intelligent and motivated group, dedicated to their professions and their disciplines. Their research is state-of-the-art and influences and informs important parts of the business world. That much, while stimulating and exciting, is not that unusual...

Business Week 2008 with State Farm CEO Ed Rust

Since the mid-1970s, the College of Business at Illinois State University has sponsored Business Week to foster students' appreciation for the array of skills required in a dynamic global business environment. During the four days of events, students from the College of Business are joined by those from many other disciplines, as they interact with industry leaders and explore a variety of life skills essential to their successful transition to the workforce. Corporate and industry leaders share specialized expertise with students and faculty and explore important issues and cutting-edge developments.

Business Week has significant student appeal and is actively supported by all 17 Registered Student Organizations in the College of Business. The activities are planned, promoted and executed by the 10-student Business Week Steering Committee with support from the Dean's staff. Cross-campus participation levels jumped significantly last year as a direct result of specific efforts by the steering committee to alert students and faculty in other colleges about speakers and activities that would be of special interest to them and to include area residents in several of the events...

Transitions for Moon and Lust

Incoming Associate Dean, John Lust, is the former Chair of Management and Quantitative Methods. He knows exactly what his plans are once he assumes his new role in January. "Now that we have been recognized as a top 75 business school, I am excited to work with Interim Dean McGuire and the rest of the College leadership as we try to move to top 50 status," explained Lust....

Associate Dean Jim Moon is retiring after 14 years of service to the College of Business. A public celebration in his honor is scheduled for Friday, December 7th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in the Lower Level Atrium of the College of Business Building.

Moon began his career in the College of Business as Chairperson of the Accounting Department and has served as Associate Dean since 2005...
