A Message from the Dean

Last Friday, with the support of the Curriculum Team, more than 25 colleagues gathered for the Ethics Curriculum Retreat, and made good progress on mapping our ethics coverage for all business majors through the core curriculum. And of course our chairs and faculty are heavily invested in recruiting new colleagues to the college.

Many other events help us strengthen partnerships and recognition:

  • Our Alumni Hall of Fame which allowed us to honor and welcome back to campus five very successful graduates.
  • A well-attended Family Weekend Open House
  • The dedication of our Beta Gamma Sigma Bronze Key in the courtyard—a tangible symbol of our commitment to encouraging students to achieve academic excellence. At that event Provost Presley spoke and we presented Norris Porter, Chapter Advisor, with a certificate designating our chapter as Exemplary
  • Numerous advisory councils and board meetings: Educational Investment Fund Board; Accounting Department Advisory Council; Insurance Advisory Board of Executives; Finance Advisory Board; and  College of Business Advisory Council

All of us in the college owe sincere thanks to all who have planned and participated in these activities and ensured their success.

Turning to a personal perspective, I appreciate very much the thoughtful notes many of you sent after I announced my retirement. I will always be grateful for my opportunity to work with you in this collegial environment. And finally, I thank you for your many kind expressions of sympathy and concern after my mother’s death in September. This has been a difficult year for our family and we are most grateful for the many ways friends have reached out with kindness and support.
