COB Standards
Created by our own faculty, staff and students, the College of Business Standards for Professional Behavior and Ethical Conduct articulate a shared belief system that defines our collaborative culture. The standards were formally introduced during Business Week 2006 and copies of the document were given to all faculty and staff. Now Dean Mills, members of the Leadership and Constituent Satisfaction teams are moving forward to assist faculty as the standards are systematically integrated throughout the college as recommended by the AACSB’s report.
- Permanent displays outlining the core values in the standards have been placed in high traffic areas.
- Free-standing signs are visible in all departmental offices.
- The COB website includes prominent links to the standards.
- New environmental art in the computer lab provides visual reinforcement of the core beliefs.
- The full standards booklet was given to all students enrolled in BUS 100 and to all new transfer students during the first week of the semester.
- The booklet will be distributed during Junior Experience for the next two years to provide access to the document to students who have already taken BUS 100.
- Booklets will be available during departmental meetings so faculty can provide them to seniors and graduate students in their classes.
- A one-page cardstock flier with a summary of the key ideas expressed in the booklet is available through the Dean’s office.
- To insure integration in every course, faculty members are asked to reference the standards on their syllabi.
As a member of the Constituent Satisfaction Team, Linda Showers (MKT) has been involved with the project from the start. “Reviewing the standards together in our various gatherings challenges us all to act on our convictions and encourages us to provide a foundation for tomorrow’s business leaders.”
