A Message from the Dean

The last month has been busy and very interesting.  I hope you were able to participate in some of the Business Week activities and other special events in the College of Business.  It was an honor to welcome J. D. Power III to campus and hear his perspectives on his firm and future opportunities for our students.  We had a distinguished group of alumni who returned for the panel and presentations on Thursday. They brought a wealth of experience and excellent information to share with students. My thanks to everyone who helped in the planning and who supported the programs.

At the end of the week we had a special program introducing the College of Business Standards of Professional Behavior and Ethical Conduct.  This “first” for the college launched us on an important stage in our journey as students, faculty and professionals.

Beta Gamma Sigma and the Jack North Student Leadership Award

On Saturday, April 8th new members were initiated into Beta Gamma Sigma, the highest academic honor we offer to our business students.  Chartered only in business schools accredited by the AACSB-International, this academic honorary is known and respected in the business world as an indicator of academic achievement.

This year, thanks to the dedicated work of Norris Porter and special encouragement of our faculty members of Beta Gamma Sigma, we achieved a new milestone as 75% of the students invited to membership accepted.  As a result, we are named an exemplary chapter, and one of our students will receive a scholarship funded by the national organization.
