Dr. Howe has been the instructor of the Educational Investment Fund since 1988 and a member of the Illinois State University faculty since 1985. His professional interests include security pricing and risk analysis. He is a member of the Midwest Finance Association, Southern Finance Association, Eastern Finance Association, Academy of Financial Services, and the Financial Managment Association.
He has published in Oil and Gas Tax Quarterly, Journal of Financial and Strategic Decisions, Journal of Economics and Finance Quarterly, Journal of Business and Economics, Engineering Economist, and Journal of Applied Business Research.
Dr. Howe received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Iowa State University, and his Ph.D. from Texas Tech University
Dr. Scott D. Johnson is Dean of the College of Business at Illinois State University. He received a Ph.D. in Marketing at Michigan State University, an MBA and a BA degree from the University of Minnesota.
Prior to Illinois State University, Dr. Johnson served as Dean of the College of Business at Minnesota State University, Mankato and had earlier served on the faculty in the College of Business at the University of Louisville. Johnson has taught MBA courses in the United States and internationally. Additonally, he has given numerous seminars in the area of customer, client and patient satisfaction.
Johnson's research interests include recommendation-based decision making in the selection and evaluation of professional service providers. He has published in journals such as the Journal of Financial Planning, Journal of Education for Business, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, The International Executive, and The CPA Journal.
Dr. Johnson has also served as an expert witness in the area of trademark dilution and as a marketing consultant to a variety of companies. He worked in retail management prior to his academic career. He is married and has four grown children.
The College of Business is recognized by BusinessWeek magazine as a top 100 undergraduate program. The College of Business has over 130 faculty and staff members, has approximately 3500 students, has 10 different majors, and offers an MBA degree and a Master of Professional Accounting degree.
Dr. Koppenhaver joined the Illinois State faculty as Chairperson of the Department of Finance, Insurance and Law in 2007. Before coming to Illinois State, he held a joint appointment as a Professor in the Finance Department and in the Economics Department at Iowa State University. While at Iowa State, he served (1993-1996, 2001-2002) as the Associate Dean responsible for the management and oversight of Iowa State University’s College of Business budget and accounts. He was employed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago as a senior economist prior to joining Iowa State University.
Dr. Koppenhaver's research interests include the off balance sheet activities of U.S. commercial banks, the optimal use of futures, options, and swap contracts to manage risk, and the operations of money market mutual funds. His research has appeared in publications of the Federal Reserve Banks of Chicago and Dallas, edited books, and journals including: Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education, Financial Education and Practice, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Financial Services Research, Journal of Futures Markets, Managerial and Decision Economics, and Review of Futures Markets. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Midwest Finance Association.
At Iowa State University, Dr. Koppenhaver received the Dean's Advisory Council Citation for Teaching Excellence, the Citation for Innovation in Teaching, and the Citation for Undergraduate Teaching, and was named a Louis Thompson Distinguished Undergraduate Teacher in 2005.
Dr. Koppenhaver received his B.B.A. degree (1976) and the Ph.D. degree (1980) from the University of Iowa.
