Plans of Study

We understand that students want and often need to complete their degree in a timely manner.

The suggested four-year plans of study were developed to show prospective students what a typical semester by semester progression might look like for each major in the College of Business. The plans of study listed below are for the current catalog year.

Graduation Checklists

These checklists have been created by College of Business Academic Advisors and detail the academic requirements for each major in the College of Business beginning with the 1997/98 catalog year. Graduation Checklists by major and catalog year are available on the College of Business Academic Advisement Center web site.

Catalog year

For a student who attends at least one term of each academic year, graduation requirements are specified in the undergraduate catalog for the year of entry to the University. If attendance is not continuous, a student must meet the requirements specified in the undergraduate catalog in effect when he or she reenters the University. A student who transfers from an Illinois public community college may choose to meet graduation requirements specified in the Illinois State University undergraduate catalog in effect at the time the student entered the community college if attendance was not interrupted and transfer to Illinois State occurred within nine months of attendance at the community college. A student may also choose to graduate under new catalog requirements published while he or she is in attendance at Illinois State; however, all new graduation requirements must be met including general education. Consult an academic advisor for more information.

Advisement

Illinois State provides a two-tiered advising system. All undergraduate students with less than 24 semester hours of credit and all students who are classified as General or Unclassified students are advised in University College Academic Advisement. After students are enrolled in the College of Business and have a minimum of 24 semester hours completed, they should contact the College of Business Academic Advisement Center to schedule a planning appointment.

College of Business Academic Advisors provide resources, guidance, and support to undergraduate students. As part of the advising experience students will explore, define, and develop an educational plan of action to achieve their individual academic goals.
