Research Interests:

Dr. Schambach's research focuses on Information Technology Workforce issues such as professional development, skill needs, professional motivation, and student internship outcomes.

Profile:

Tom Schambach's primary teaching area is business information systems. Before entering academic life he worked as a business analyst, software developer, and project manager for Unisys.

Schambach has previously served as the Education Director for the Twin City Chapter of the Association for Information Technology Professionals (AITP), board member for the Heartland Software Productivity Improvement Network (SPIN), and as a director, research chair, vice president and president for the International Academy for Information Management (IAIM). Tom currently serves as the Editor for the Journal of Informatics Education Research.

Schambach has presented and published papers at several national and international information systems conferences, has worked as a consultant for grant research sponsored by the Illinois Board of Higher Education, and he has been awarded the Caterpillar Faculty Scholarship Award. He has published articles in Communications of the ACM, Computer Personnel, Journal of Computer Information Systems and Journal of Information Systems Education.
