Profile:

Bill Crampton received his Ph.D. in Business Administration (major in Information Systems) from Kent State University in 1990.  Since his arrival at Illinois State University, he has taught six different courses:  ACC 263 (AIS: Accounting Information Systems), ACC 260 (Computer Programming for Business - Visual Basic), ACC 266 (COBOL), ACC 270 (Information Systems in Organizations), BUS 100 (Enterprise), and ACC 166 (Business Information Systems).
 
Beginning in the fall of 2006, Bill's primarily teaching responsibility has been in the area of Accounting Information Systems. In the summer of 2006, he attended a week-long, intensive AAA (American Accounting Association) workshop on teaching AIS and the REA model at Michigan State University.  In August 2008, Bill attended the AAA's National Meeting in Anaheim, California.  He participated in the two CPE (Continuing Professional Education) sessions dealing with XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language). In March 2009, Bill attended Microsoft's Convergence Conference in New Orleans.  He participated in multiple sessions dealing with Microsoft Dynamics - GP (Great Plains) software which is currently incorporated as one component of his ACC 263 course.

Bill has received several teaching awards including:  two-time recipient of the Teaching Award of the Department of Accounting, three-time recipient of the BIS Club Faculty Member of the Year Award, and one-time recipient of the university-wide Excellence in Teaching Award.

Bill's research interests span the areas of both information systems and accounting.  His research has been published in information systems, accounting, and business journals and has been presented at regional, national, and international information systems and accounting conferences.  Bill has published in the following journals:  Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Information Systems Education, Issues in Information Systems, Advances in Environmental Accounting and Management, Taxation for Accountants, The Journal of Accounting, Taxation, and Finance for Business, Journal of the American Taxation Association and the Journal of Informatics Education Research.

Since his arrival at Illinois State University, Bill has been active in service to the Department, College, and University.  At the Department-level, he has provided service in the areas of faculty evaluation, faculty recruitment, student recruitment, technology issues, curriculum review and planning, AACSB re-affirmation, and departmental policies.

At the College-level, he has provided service in the areas of constituent satisfaction, leadership, Advisory Council support, curriculum review and planning, searches, international business, and re-accreditation.

At the University-level, he has provided service in the areas of service award selection and international studies.

Bill has chaired or vice-chaired committees at the Department, College, and University levels during his tenure at Illinois State University.
