Deborah Lindberg's teaching interests include auditing and financial accounting. She is a CPA and a member of numerous professional and academic organizations, including Beta Gamma Sigma, the Illinois Society of CPAs, the Institute of Internal Auditors, and the American Accounting Association. Her current research focuses on international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
Lindberg has published in numerous academic and professional journals, including The International Journal of Accounting, Issues in Accounting Education, The CPA Journal, Russian and East European Finance and Trade, Internal Auditor, Today's CPA, and the National Public Accountant. Dr. Lindberg and a co-author were recently awarded an $87,490 grant from the American Accounting Association to study auditor independence issues.
Deborah L. Lindberg has received numerous honors and awards including a 2009 Outstanding Educator Award from the Illinois CPA Society. Recognitions include the Outstanding University Service Award for 2007-2008, the Outstanding Service Award in the College of Business for 2007, and the 2006 and 2003 Department of Accounting Outstanding Performance Award for Professional Scholarly Service. Additional recognitions include rhe 2004 Department of Accounting Outstanding Performance Award for Teaching (co-recipient), the University Research Initiative Award for 2001, the University Service Initiative Award for 2002, the 2001 Department of Accounting Outstanding Performance Award for Teaching, the 2000 Department of Accounting Outstanding Performance Award for Service, the 1999 Department of Accounting Outstanding Performance Award for Scholarly Productivity, and the "Arthur H. Winakor Award for the Outstanding Accounting Faculty Member of the Year" for the 1998-99 academic year.
