Information for Students

General Information, Forms & Links

Internships are arranged between the employer and the students.  Students schedule interviews with employers at each others convenience.  Many employers come to campus during the fall and spring career fairs for interviews.  Other internships can be arranged directly between the students and the employers through personal contacts.  In either case, the student should fill out an Internship Application Form.

After the student gets the internship, they should submit a Internship Employment Verification Form, and Waiver of Liability Form, and Insurance Coverage Form.  The following links will take you there.

To get academic credit, the internship needs to have academic rigor.  Academic rigor is determined by a job description.  The job description is provided by the employer as part of the Internship Employment Verification Form.  If the internship has sufficient academic rigor, the internship coordinator will forward the information to Diane Skidmore.  Diane will put in a permit to register.  You should also check with Diane whether to take the class for 298, 398 or 498 credit.  You will then need to register for the internship.

Internships require 60 hours of work for each hour of credit.  You can get up to 6 hours of internship credit. At the end of the internship, you need to turn in a 10 page paper about the internship.  The internship coordinator will give you an outline to help with this process.
